about

A half-Dutch NZ native raised on the Napier fault line, The Seaport & The Airport (Oscar Wuts) earned his stripes in the country's capital city drumming in local indie bands, and the occasional witching-hour stint playing jungle records in dark quadrants of half-empty bars. Crossing the ditch in 2005 to conquer the drum stool of a Sydney-based math-rock vision, he ripped through compilations of complexity towards a now holistic approach to toying with antique ideas of rhythmic centre. After chartering beats for a collection of ensembles for the better part of the past decade; The Seaport & The Airport, with a handful of impressive releases under the belt already, has matured into a legitimate and urgent solo project fuelled by Wuts’ audio-dissection obsession.

Finding its place between the mechanics of drum & bass, the fleshy drones of post-rock and an intersection through trip-hop's golden years; Wuts’ composition carves out an energy as perceivably sinister as it is corporeally kinetic.

Following 2016's ‘And The Days That Follow These Ones’, it's a collection of tracks made over 3-4 years when the Sydney-based producer was growing slightly stir-crazy; “Sick of playing in bands, and working out how to get the library sounds in my head out of the glowing screen on my desk”. Due later this year through Perfect Hair Records, Power Moves is Wuts putting a heavy heel into the electronic bedrock of Sydney’s current moment.
